Using Mandrill for SMTP Email Settings

Learn to integrate Mandrill SMTP with ClickFunnels to send emails through Actionetics and funnel automations. You would use Mandrill for SMTP Email Settings if you wanted to use an existing Mandrill account to send emails from ClickFunnels.

Prior to getting started, you will need the following:

Step1: Domain Name Verification

  1. Login to Mandrill.
  2. From within your account, you should get a message to Set up your sending domain.
  3. Click on this button. 
  4. On the next screen, enter the domain you wish to send emails from.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click the Verify A Domain button on the middle right of the screen.
  7. Enter the email address you set up with your mail host for this domain.
  8. Click Send Verification Email.
  9. Check your mail host for the email verification link and click on the verification link (not shown).

Step 2: Setup Your DKIM and SPF Records

  1. Select View DKIM Settings.
  2. In another tab, open your domain DNS Zone Editor (ClickFunnels shown in the example).
  3. Add a TXT Record.
  4. Enter mandrill._domainkey into the Name input.
  5. Copy and Paste the entire DKIM Value into the Value input.
  6. Press Save.
  7. Back in Mandrill, select View SPF Settings.
  8. Open your domain DNS Zone Editor.
  9. Add a TXT Record.
  10. Enter @ into the Name input.
  11. Copy and Paste the entire SPF value into the Value input.
  12. Press Save.

Step 3: Adding your SMTP Settings to ClickFunnels

  1. From within ClickFunnels, navigate to your settings and click SMTP Settings.
  2. Click Setup email settings.
  3. Title - The name of your integration. This is for your reference only. This can be anything that you like.
  4. From Name - This is the name that will display in the user's email client when they receive an email from you.
  5. From Email - should be the same email that you verified in your Mandrill settings.
  6. SMTP Server - This comes from your Mandrill account. You should enter smtp.mandrillapp.com
  7. Port - Enter 587 as seen in the SMTP settings
  8. SMTP User - Your Mandrill generated User ID
  9. SMTP Password - Your Mandrill generated Password (API key)
  10. SMTP Domain - Enter is the domain that you verified. Insert only the domain name. Do not use www, HTTP, or https.
  11. Address - Enter your business's physical address 
  12. SMTP Footer - Your SMTP Footer is the information that will be included in the footer of all your emails. This footer area supports HTML code.

Step 4: Adding your Webhook

  1. Copy your Mandrill webhook from your SMTP settings.
  2. Within Mandrill, click the Webhooks tab along the top navigation.
  3. Select Add a Webhook.
  4. Select Message is Bounced.
  5. Select Message is Marked as Spam.
  6. Select Message is Soft-Bounced.
  7. Select Message Recipient Unsubscribes.
  8. Paste the Webhook URL.
  9. Add a description.
  10. Click Create Webhook.
