change a specific word's text color and font in a paragraph

I was told by one of your reps I cant change the text and color in a paragraph unless i make the word in bold and then choose the bold button. It is a good hack but its not intuitive ands without asking I would never know.

I think you should make it very simple to change text inside a paragraph and also without making it in bold.
