Expire Cookie (Days)/Auto Expire For X Days (Confusion this setting may cause)
"The Expire Cookie (Days)" and/or "Auto Expire For X Days" setting in a timer element can cause a lot of confusion. In this article, we will cover what that confusion is and what this feature is really meant for and the advantages it can give you when properly used.

Video Recap:
The real purpose of this setting is to offer something that will only be available on a person's first visit to the specific page the timer is on, and if they leave and come back later, the offer will no longer be available, and the page will redirect immediately as soon as they revisit the page.
A good way to look at this feature would be to see it as an "I told you so" or "I'm not bluffing" setting. Meaning, that you are not lying when you let visitors or customers know that what is being offered right there at the moment is a one-time deal that will not be available to them again.
Elements:
To set this feature up, you will want to use a either Minute Timer or Day-Timer Element.
Settings:
In order for this feature to properly work, the following settings must be in place:
- Expire Action = Redirect URL
- Redirect URL = (The URL you want people to be sent to on their next visit)
- Re-Visit Action = Auto Expire For X Days
- Expire Cookie (Days) = (Enter the number of days you want the redirection to continue)
Note: Be sure to click Save after making any changes.
Confusion:
Usually, people think this function is to remember a person and continue counting down based on each person's local time/the last visit. For example, if the timer is set for three days and they re-visit two days later, the timer will continue counting down for one more day for them since that would be the remaining time for that specific person.
Unfortunately, this is not the purpose of this feature. That type of revisit action is not a native feature in the page editor. That type of setting can be achieved via 3rd party custom code or 3rd party tools. Some people refer to them as "FOMO timers" or "Deadline Funnels".
